Interesting note: I have Windows 8.1 Pro with Media Center downloading right now, but I downloaded Ubuntu Server 13.10 and installed on the first machine already.

The new intel AC wireless card I have needs the 3.11 kernel from this, going to grab the xubuntu installer asap.

Sucks that the hardware backport for LTS (12.04.4) won't land until Jan

Any link on how to do this? I could setup rsync to a new VM. Actually, the .raw disk image only has 8GB used so that may be a strong option.

Why wouldn't you use 14.04 at this point? It's the new LTS and runs a 3.13 kernel by default.
