hey all,

I recently purchased a s2600cp system from Natex that I am using as an ESXi host. I am trying to find a way to monitor CPU/motherboard temps from within one of my VMs. Typically I just use lm-sensors on a centos or ubuntu server VM... but when I run sensors-detect on this system it finds just a coretemp sensor and nothing else... "sensors" then reports two isa-coretemps, but at 100 degrees celsius across the board... so obviously not working. Any suggestions as to what I am missing here? or alternative sensor monitoring apps?

thank you!

It looks like that is a windows only solution. I would like something I can use from within a linux vm running on the ESXi host.

You monitor from a web interface, which will be viewable under linux, on a phone, etc.. The app itself is windows based, so you could run it in a Windows VM, or on another machine since it just queries the IPMI interface. If you really want to have some fun, make a JSON widget in linux that pulls the IPMI data from PRTG.
