My Topton i5-1240U stopped power on after about 1-1.2 years of use. It has been inactive (powered off) for about 1 month and now it doesn't turn on. I already tried different power adapter, no luck.
Good news everyone, my topton that refused to power-on, finally started.

All I had to do is to take CMOS battery out. The moment I took it out, it started fine without any issues.

I've seen old office PCs failing to boot with a fully drained CMOS battery. :)

I would've assumed they would simply reset themselves on each boot and complain about that, but I guess some devices don't boot at all without a working CMOS battery. It's certainly a bit weird.

Did you replace the battery with a new one or will it only work without one?

Guessing it had enough voltage to read garbage that broke the configuration. I wonder how many have ended up in the bin/trash for the sake of a new battery...

if battery is internally shorted then yes it can cause boot issue
