By the way, the following is with an N5105 and i226:
That's interesting. With the N5100 boosting to 2.8GHz, running opnsense bare metal, I'm only seeing ~20Gb/s on the loopback test. I get the same results with or without C3 enabled.
I would have expected it to be very close to the N5105. Is proxmox just more efficient at allocating threads / resources? Or do you think I've borked something in the opnsense config or bios?

I am curious, are the Qotom boxes the same as these units? Like are they a reseller of the same product?

Do they also get BIOS updates on these boxes or is that all wishful thinking?

Anyone know which ones faster shipping, Aliexpress store CWWK or buying direct from CWWK and roughly how long?

Am from UK, cheers

opnsense results are a bit worse than pfsense for the same test and there are retries. Not sure what's going on there given it's a 127.0.0.1 test.

Thanks @skimikes, that's definitely helpful to see. So it looks like there is some limitation imposed by pf/opnsense. Maybe they use different versions of iperf3?
Strange that you had retries in opn, I didn't experience that.
Also interesting that my N5100 is showing the same 20Gb/s throughput as the J6413. That makes me think it's not a CPU bottleneck, assuming the J6413 is running at 3.0GHz.

Looking to get the Ryzen 7 5800U, but not sure where to get it from, either aliexpress or cwwk. From everyone's experience on here which one would ship the quickest to the UK. Aliexpress at the moment has an estimated delivery date of 3 Feb, can't see any estimated date on cwwk.
Here you go. Good company to order from

I'm new here but have read through pretty much this whole thread.

Since I've seen it posted a couple times -- is cwwk.net legit/the same as the AliExpress CWWK Store? I ask because it looks like a pretty generic Shopify site and a bit fishy. Also, pretty outdated as there's no V5 of the N5105/N6005 boxes, etc.

Thanks, but for the same model it is £179 more expensive then ordering it from AliExpress Topton store.
Greets from Germany and Happy belated New Year! I ordered from KingNovey - if you choose "seller's shipping method" - even though the estimate is longer, there's higher chance of not having to pay duty fees and it's actually faster ?!? - I ordered a 5800U on the 9th of November and received it on the 23rd  even though the estimate was January 2nd . . . at least that was my experience . . . . whatever that's worth

Check this post, mentioned that you could very well get anything ( Topton, KingNovy, HUNSN, Hero, etc ) and others including STH youtube reviews mentioned aliexpress sent them an upgraded or different model to the one they ordered or wanted.

Also its a risk, if its faulty, wrong unit or you want support it sounds like you maybe better off speaking to a brick wall.

Few mentioned cwwk tends to be better in build quality, reliability and you should get what you order but again nothing is 100%.

I do not know about the bios info, but from sounds of things they have added more bios options or left more tweaking head room so its good. For example I have a N6005 mini Acer pc which by comparison has nothing in the bios, I don't even have power options so I do not recommended going that route if you are looking for a router or promox vm.

I have the CWWK N5105 model. I upgraded to the 5.19 kernel in Proxmox some time ago and things ran fairly stable. Could get 2-3 weeks of uptime, but still got the occasional crash. I recently ugpraded to the 6.1 kernel. No crashes yet and sitting around 10 days of uptime at the moment, so not really sure if its better or not.

Regarding microcode though, is it recommended to update this if I'm not having any issues?

Looking at this post:

Here is my output:
Bash:
root@pxcw:~# cat /proc/cpuinfo | grep micro
microcode : 0x1d
microcode : 0x1d
microcode : 0x1d
microcode : 0x1d

All good questions and asked similar questions above, I think anything from Asia just has to be taken with a bucket of salt especially if its coming from aliexpress. I think the CWWK website and CWWK from aliexpress might be bit more reliable as my post above it was mentioned to me cwwk brand tends to be bit more reliable and better hardware and you tend to get what you asked for at least.

I read on cwwk site returns/support and it does sound like they still use 3rd party manufacturers so it may just end up being similar to aliexpress, hard to say.

Certainly do dig around, the price you get on aliexpress is sometimes cheaper then CWWK website, also aliexpress does mention that V5 of the N5105 and nothing on CWWK so no idea what version they have, I have sent an email asking their support which version is on the cwwk site of the N5105 v1226 unit and also how long it may take to ship to my UK address. If by some miracle they respond ill post the info here.

****edit they responded check my post here*****

Noticed Patrick's video here he showed how you get different revisions/types coming from Aliexpress site, but he mentioned getting the one custom built with 16gig he over paid for that service and shipping.

Its possible if you get the bare bones unit over the custom built one with ram and ssd, it might ship quicker and be easier to get ram/ssd from amazon/ebay etc, just a theory mind.

Good points, thank you. Here's to hoping you'll get some kind of response. Hah!

The more I browse around cwwk.net, the less I trust it... hah! So many inconsistencies. Their Shipping Policy page for example, references placing an order "on Top Trend Store" and contacting customer support at support@cwwk.com (not .net!) It could be just sloppy copy-pasta job from whoever put the static HTML pages together but still.

I will personally probably order from the AliExpress store, where we have the old/"trusty" CWWK Store that people in this thread have ordered from. The (newer?) CWWK PC Store also seems legit and has slightly lower prices for the same V5 boxes. And like someone mentioned earlier in this thread, they also sell the more compact boxes labelled as "Affordable Edition".

I'm staying away from the Topton/WooYi/IKuaios stores which are cheaper (sometimes by a lot) due to quality and/or support (if needed) concerns.

I have installed the intel-microcode from the Proxmox repositories, it might not be the latest (20220510) but it's the stable one. Definitely install it, you'll do yourself a favour.

Interestingly enough I have the same issue on a new N6005 box as AdriftAtlas in the Proxmox forum, sudden kernel panic quickly after a fresh proxmox boot, after that no more issues. I solved the issue by disabling enhanced c-states, since then no more kernel panic. Go figure.

By the way I have disabled the Intel security mitigations on the pfsense cpu (host) ( -pcid;-spec-ctrl;-ssbd) but I still got kernel panic, the disabling of enhanced c-states solved it.

cwwk did get back to me, was surprised support and communication was there and very fast both via email and web chat on cwwk website.

I was told aliexpress cwwk and cwwk are the same company.

Shipping from either above or same company takes 1 day.

Shipping of item will arrive in 10 days to UK from cwwk and AliExpress cwwk.

That n5105 i226v is the V5 latest edition on both cwwk and AliExpress cwwk also.

My gut instinct is take it with some salt. Chip shortages, Covid restrictions etc might also be a factor who really knows. By all means talk to them via chat its faster to double confirm any details etc.

But at least the communication/support was there so I would still prefer to buy from cwwk or aliexpress cwwk rather then the other brands and we know from other buyers on here, cwwk is looking good for these mini router boxes in quality, workmanship, reliability in what you get.

What Qotom Box do you have in mind? This one seems to be the Changwang v3/v4/v5 (board layout is identical), but it's not clear what version you will get. But the description is a bit sketchy, not clear what ethernet NICs (not mentioning i225 or 226). It says TF slot not for booting, so it has to be v3 or v4 (v5 supports booting from uSD card according to cwwk).
Different Qotom boxes (eg J6412 with Realtek NIC) are their own layout. I have neer seen an other shop selling the same board layout as the Qotom boxes (eg Kaby/Whiskey Lake CPU and earlier)
If it is the Changwang N5105 board you can download the BIOS updates directly from changwang site.

Guys, any cheap battery/powerbank/ups that can be used to support these boxes? 5 minutes would be enough. If a laptop battery can be had for 30-40€, surely something cheap for these tiny boxes should exist, yeah?

It looks like there are actually quite a few 12V UPS packs for wifi routers and such.

https://www.amazon.com/Battery-Backup-Uninterruptible-Supply-Security/dp/B09JBYZ4KQ

No idea if this one is any good. For the N51XX and similar boxes, I'd say 3A minimum, and something with 5.5x2.5mm barrel jacks.
