I'm coming to the conclusion that my HP T740 are just not going to be enough to do everything I want to do with SUSE Harvester. Here's what I need and hoping someone can help me figure out models and generations of TMM machines that might do this. My alternative might still be buying rack mount servers due to cost, but I want to look into this deeper first and need some expertise from those that live in this area.
Need 8+ cores and really 16+ threads
Need DDR4 SODIMM dual sockets (because I have the RAM on hand and can't afford to change it)
Need 2 m.2 drive slots, either dual nvme or sata + nvme, nvme is storage drive for the VMs A single 2.5inch SATA coupled with an m.2 nvme might be OK.
Need low profile PCIE x8 slot for dual 25gbps or dual/quad 10gbps cards
Desired an a+e slot for an additional i226 card
Good but not required - gigabit Realtek onboard is OK, Intel would be better
Can not be $1000+, that defeats the purpose and I can buy some really nice rack mount servers for $1000+. MS-A2 is out, just way too much money, same goes for most of the MinisForums stuff.
