So long story short buying late and didn't notice what is 99% likely a cloned listing at a lower price so it was pushed up in listings and the seller feedback looked OK but I believe has been "boosted". Delivery time is a huge window and hasn't elapsed. Seller communication is suspect, tracking site is weird and hasn't updated in over a week. I totally get that it's my fault for not digging deeper.

Now, how likely is it that once the delivery window elapses ebay will actually reverse the transaction? I'm considering buying the item(s) from a legit seller now so I don't need to wait weeks for the delivery window to run out, or is that going to screw me over from ebay's perspective? I've had issues before like wrong item sent, or damaged in shipping and those all got sorted

I *could* eat the cost, I'd just be royally pissed at myself, and ebay isn't supposed to allow scammers on their platform (in theory... ;) )

You shouldn't have any issues getting your money back if the seller doesn't have any sort of tracking that indicates the item has been delivered. If it's truly a scam and the shipping/tracking site are part of the scam, then, yeah, you're probably not getting a refund.

I purchased from a reputable online company that I had done business with before, and the item was listed as "shipped" two days after purchase. UPS tracking didn't change for a month (I had forgotten about the purchase, as it was for a future project), and I finally called them and cancelled. They had no idea what went wrong. So, it might just be that the tracking is messed up.

I have found, on the 2 occasions that I have been unfortunate, that ebay will make things right, if you are honest with them and can provide them with the information they need to verify your purchase etc. It all takes time, and ebay are in no hurry, unfortunately. Worst case, if you paid by card, you can always approach your card issuer for a claim :)

eBay has had all sorts of weird listings, it's becoming difficult to differentiate between a legit seller and a scam.

You should have buyer protection. I'm more inclined to use eBay and AliExpress these days, the scammers on Amazon are just wild.

Yeah, I've got like another week on estimated delivery and thus e-bay just tells me to wait. Hopefully will be OK in the end.

The biggest advantage of ebay IMHO is that if I buy from a seller, I am buying FROM that seller. I'm not buying "name_brand" and getting anything in the mixed bin of real and fakes due to comingled inventory. Both have their share of completely fake listings as well as real but low quality listings. My big mistake here was ebaying late at night lol.
