price seems kind of high when this deal was $17 and I also recently picked up a bunch of Intel 320 40GB for $20/each.

$30 for 20gb? sounds high to me. also 20gb is getting too close to amount of minimum space needed for windows.

cost per gb drops usually for the bigger the drive i think until you get to a certain really large size premium part then they go up again.

32 or 64gb is more ideal size but the problem is they are not that good cost per gb. 120-128gb seems like the ideal size for cost per gb as well as overall price. A search on ebay shows several 120gb for around $40. here's one: Kingston SSDNow V300 120GB 2.5" SSD | eBay

These are not for Windows they're for pfsense and other low power or mini appliances.
I'd urge you to read the thread entirely for context before making suggestions and giving opinions.

Kingston SSD != Intel SSD either, especially not SLC.
Those are also 2x the price of the Intel 313 ($17-20).

Once again, comparing apples to oranges.

Not even in the same league man. It's not about $/GB so much as it's about $/performance/GB. Those Kingston drives are probably alright for Windows clients, but for servers you need performance after the cache is full. It's all about the use you want to put them to.

I just picked up 7 x 313s for $72 w free shipping.

Here are the drive stats from Sentinel:

I can't image 1 and 2 days of being on with that little bit of writes to each drive. Think the SMART has been wiped?

The firmware 9CV10379 isn't something Intel put out as the versioning isn't the same. Intel tools won't update it either.

93MB at 4kb q1? I guess that SSD drives lies to the operating system when executing the ata flush command. My Intel 330 SSD does the same.
