received the 4 i ordered. they seem to have very little use on them. here's the smartctl output:
Wow! Very little usage, indeed! I now I wish I hadn't second-guessed myself on these and ordered some!

Got 12 of these about a year ago as a job lot, paid £60 total iirc so £5 each!

Unfortunately, haven't been able to find them under ~£20 ea. in the UK since. This thread won't help :)

This needed a string of expletives and SMOKIN HOT in the title. Those are NEW drives. 40GB written on a 20GB SLC Intel drive? I know there's embedded statadoms but I'd trust Intel over them any day.

What's a 311?

This thread was about 313...
( The 313 is the successor of Intel's first generation caching SSD, the Intel SSD 311.)

Anyone want to do a group buy on these? lot of 20 Intel SSDSA2VP020G2 20GB SSD SATA II 3GB/S 2.5in Tested Free USA Ship | eBay

I need roughly 4-8 of them.

Looks like there's another listing here: Intel SSDSA2VP020G2 20GB SSD SATA II 3GB/S 2.5in 23 in stock Free SATA Cable Set | eBay

But at this rate the 160GB 320's seem like a better deal. Massive OP can probably net good enough durability compared to the 311's
$30 for 20gb? sounds high to me. also 20gb is getting too close to amount of minimum space needed for windows.

cost per gb drops usually for the bigger the drive i think until you get to a certain really large size premium part then they go up again.

32 or 64gb is more ideal size but the problem is they are not that good cost per gb. 120-128gb seems like the ideal size for cost per gb as well as overall price. A search on ebay shows several 120gb for around $40. here's one: Kingston SSDNow V300 120GB 2.5" SSD | eBay

These are not for Windows they're for pfsense and other low power or mini appliances.
I'd urge you to read the thread entirely for context before making suggestions and giving opinions.

Kingston SSD != Intel SSD either, especially not SLC.
Those are also 2x the price of the Intel 313 ($17-20).

Once again, comparing apples to oranges.

I just picked up 7 x 313s for $72 w free shipping.

Here are the drive stats from Sentinel:

Code:
DAYS Writes GB
640 29.06
1681 33.88
01 30
1801 34
553 33
1830 34
02 37
I can't image 1 and 2 days of being on with that little bit of writes to each drive. Think the SMART has been wiped?

The firmware 9CV10379 isn't something Intel put out as the versioning isn't the same. Intel tools won't update it either.

Been running this in a ubuntu 18.04 server as rootfs + zfs cache - no issues so far.

The SLC may win on power usage since I can't find any data and cant take mine out to bench it with a wattmeter
