Same here, plot took 5654.88 sec to create. This was plotted while I was making my regular plots (32 in parallel) on the system.

It looks like changing it from 24 to 16 threads fixed the problem. 4677 seconds for me. it was 6079 sec if I used my disks as temp2. Overall, this is good, I am going to my set of 4 RAID 0 disks set of 8 and give a try again.

It is amazing how Chia convinced people to use expensive NVME. I really think there is some back story there.

Yes now people will be buying expensive RAM. LOL

From my testing does not seem worth running out to buy ram for this plotter. The decrease in speed even on raid0 SAS or NVME is too good.

Better use DDR3 ECC with E5v1/v2. 12x-24x E5 cores + 128GiB seems to be the sweet pot.

Is there a way we can order hard drives like a business? Can businesses/it shops get new hard drives at a very low price, like $15/TB or $10/TB?

Well, if you are talking about dozens of drives, no. If you are talking about 100000 drives a batch, probably?

So with the new plotter I have now got the following.

Dual E5-2690's, 192GB 1600MHz Ram, LSI 9400-8i controllers

Plotter seems to use around 10GB ram for the 30 threads.

SAS = 9x 10k 300GB SAS
NVME = 1TB NVME
RamDisk = 112GB Ram Disk

Should be noted I am copying plots between drives at the same time on this server to make some more storage available

* File copy between plot storage has finished for this run.

Will give a 2x 15 threads parallel run a go tomorrow with SAS (5 in raid 0) & NVME and SAS (4 in raid0) & Ramdisk.

These days, I'm not even sure businesses can get that unless they have a preexisting supply contract.
The closest thing I've found that's somewhat available to individuals is the 20-packs that BLT sells. For example, 20x16T for $7252, $22/TB, which before Chia would have been an average price, but now is quite a bit cheaper than anything else I can find at that capacity point: Seagate ST16000NM007G-20PK 20pk 16tb Exos X16 12gb S Sas Hard Drive.

The other option theoretically could be to order a JBOD already loaded with drives, but I think the distributors usually add enough markup that it's not actually much cheaper than buying retail most of the time, but the prices might not have spiked as quickly in that market.

If your ordering from shopBLT you might as well send Santa Claus an order. Both have about as good as a track record of delivering. You will get endless emails stating your *updated* ETA to their "warehouse". At least they don't charge your card like B&H and keep your money in limbo.

My recent 'pre orders' with ShopBLT have been delivered, although not quite as fast as the initial expected date.
Do you have dates by chance. My current pending order is from 5/18 and ETA has been moved back a few times already.

The scheme now is that poeple got tired of plotting and will sell 'hardware' to buy XCH online, while the 'Investor' just smashes it their face.

This always works.
Looking at the price of the coin (down 75% from the high), I'd say, on average, people are not pursuing this strategy of "screw it I'll just buy the coin"

I think you underestimate market dynamics and structure, specially in this coin.
Market dynamics are reasonably simple at a macro level, as all crypto is going in the same direction at the same time:

Net cash inflows < Net cash outflows = Price is tanking

Not just for this coin but for crypto in general.

Only reason you had the explosion in crypto prices the last year or so was massive government stimulus, where consumers and institutions alike said "screw it, lets put a bunch of money into crypto". That source of funds appears to have dried up, so, unless / until there's a new big round of stimulus or quantitative easing, I wouldn't bet money on the market going back to where it was a month ago.

I repeat my impression that you may underestimate the issues of this 'market' as such. What you are talking about is a 'face-2-face market' without any entry restrictions and limitations.
