Still think sth must be wrong, but I have no idea how to debug/identify.
But at least with pooling you will get some, even if it's not much

Just finished deploying my last batch of 5-6TB drives.

Start plotting to 3-4TB drives.
I have about 50 3-4TB drives. The drives were retired when I upgraded.

Next month July power bill is paid for. Won 4 XCH this month,
I'll farm as long as XCH earned > power bill cost.

No, checked everything. Everything runs fine. I now at least 5 guys having more plots than I am and they are also not rewarded.

Just wondering how many plots in WD-Books are going to be erased right now :D  :p All these USB farmers ;)

Summer and Fall of 2019, how could I said no to $3 to $5 per TB.

Fall 2019, after my kidney donation operation, I could not sleep more than 2 hours at a time.
I was up most of the night shopping on Ebay instead taking pain pill.

I brought couple hundred low density ( 3-4TB ) sata and sas drives.

Fun time.

After 1140 plots I got my first two chia, lucky I was on my last HDD :)

Invested about 3000 euro hard disk and 1500 euro on 970 Pro and 500 for other items. (I already had 3 dual Xeon v3 servers, so no cost was there.) first plot was on 17th Maj.

So definitely not a good ROI.

Now I will reuse hard disks in my Nextcloud data and Media backup (Truenas). And flash will go into my vm boot drives (another truenas flash /ssd only).

As I am not planning to invest more hard disk to chia thus how I can sell these XCH from within EU?

OH wow my best price was $6 per TB and that was for the 3tb drives. I was able to score better deals locally though but there are just not enough of them.

Did you get so low prices thorugh BINs and bids?

Just a different times, Ebay dealer were dumping 3 to 4 TB drives during summer and fall 2019.
6TB drives going for $7 / TB

My favorite ebay search term : lot 4tb sas , lot 4tb sata
I had to buy the entire lot from the seller to have the bulk price.

I used the drives for cold backup storage.
Now I just repurpose for Chia to pay for the drives.

how does the power and storage cost work out with lots of 3-6tb drives vs 14-18tb? obviously way cheaper to buy the disks but is the power usage also 4x? and needing a lot more jbods/cases/hba etcs?

@mirrormax

You are right about using low density drives.
3-6 TB drives use the same power ( approx 6-7w each ) same as 14TB drives , 8 drives using approx 50w.

It is a different time now, Drives are selling $20-$25 per TB during Chia maniac.
I have not invest money in Chia farming.
Exception, first week May, brought 2 x 14TB drives @ $170 each free shipping from forum seller.
I brought the drives for storage not for Chia farming.

Given the cost of new drives today, I just farm with drives on hand.
I could stop farming anytime, use the drives for storing backup files as original intent.

So far, I won 8 XCH.
My wife always talk about trading crypto, I gave her all my Chia, waiting her to make me Bitcon millionaire.

The real money is in the stock market and real estate market ( I am in the CA Bay Area, real estate bubble !!! )

Totally true. I've never had a broker account and didnt' manage to sign up in time back in March last year when everything was dropping through the floor. There were way too many new users on local stock exchanges, wanted to go for IB but reading through all of their agreements was too painful so I gave up. My friends who had accounts long before really got rich though.
Now I would not risk trading unless we have another crisis imminent. I wanted to get in because I was absolutely sure everything would grow back, and it did. Such opportunities are rare and you need a lot of knowledge to profit from stock trading otherwise. Like, a whole lot.

Kinda off topic but you don't really need much knowledge you just need to know not to trade individual stocks and buy index funds instead. It's that simple. Def don't try timing the market, technical analysis, or any such nonsense hoping to beat the market when all you need to do i save/invest what you can in funds
