@amalurk we are going to have one that is interesting soon but more like $210 with more capabilities than that. Still fairly low cost.

There is an Amazon ad just before the "Final Words" that pulls the latest pricing. These are $39.99 right now. We paid $49.99. Also, we got slightly (a few percent) better performance using some of the heatsinks from a $5 Raspberry Pi heatsink set.

anybody else feels like 2.5 Gb is just a temporary technology?

For regular user, 1 Gb is enough. For people who want 2.5Gb, they are most likely enthusiasts. Mostly they will be eyeing on 10/40/100Gb

"ASM1182e, PCI express packet switch, 1 PCIe x1 Gen2 upstream port to 2 PCIe x 1 Gen2 downstream ports, enable users to extend PCIe ports on mother board or embedded system. PCIe interface of ASM1182e is PCIe Base SPEC 2.0 compliance"

There's why you couldn't quite hit 2x2.5g it's only talking at pcie 2.0 so about 4Gbit max after PCIe overhead(ignoring overhead from the switch itself)

We tried switches from both MikroTik and Netgear...
Interesting. There is no evidence in the wild that MikroTik makes a 2.5g or multi-gig switch. Guessing there must be another interesting announcement/review in the pipeline?

The CRS312 supports 2.5G so it could be that or S+RJ10's in some sfp+ switch.

I believe they mentioned using the S+RJ10 in the Trendnet review which would fit most mikrotik switches that have a SFP+ slot.
