I currently have 24x1G Netgear switch with a 4x2.5gbe 2x10gbe RJ45 setup. This serves a single workstation and NAS @ 10gbe, my mini pc & WAN at 2.5gbe. The rest of the network is 1gbe.
I am trying to re-organize it, ideally with one switch but not looking possible.
I need to have at minimum 2 10gbe ports, but I would like to run 2 10Gbe for my workstation, and 2 for my nas01, and ideally another two for nas02, but that isn't critical as it is just a backup TrueNAS server. The two nas devices I would like to use SFP+ for power savings, but the workstation is two floors up with rj45 cat6e run, so I would be stuck using rj45 for that.
The rest of the network I would like to upgrade from 1gbe, to 2.5gbe everywhere, just to have it most devices are still 1gbe. I firmly need 4 2.5gbe with poe and another 8-12 ports for all other devices (ideally 2.5gbe for future).
I'm considering the QNAP 20-Port 10GbE PoE++ and 2.5GbE PoE+ Managed Network Switch (QSW-M2116P-2T2S-US). Layer 2, Web Management as it meets all my needs but is short by 2 SFP+, but that's not the end of the world as 2.5gbe is likely perfectly fine for the backup NAS. This would give me two 10gbe for my primary nas and workstation so I can use multichannel SMB for files and get ~20gbe.
I am also looking at a Sodola 12 SFP+ port switch along with an 8 port 2.5gbe POE w/ SFP+ uplink as an option. This would require two rj45 transceivers for my workstation then DAC cables for the rest. This probably would be a tiny bit cheaper, after all the transceivers and dac but not much, and would give me enough sfp+ for both servers to run at 10gbitx2 but would require two questionable switches. I do like both of the Sodola use standard PC cables and don't require wall warts.
Is there a better option out there? At minimum I need 1 10gbit between nas and workstation, and a few 2.5gbe with at least one with POE, but I plan on adding additional Wifi POE puck as well cameras, so I want more 2.5gbe/poe ports for the future.
