I'm finding that the product is old enough that the interface cable is out of stock at all reputable dealers. I was hoping that someone here knew the pinout of the RJ 11 connector so I could build my own.

I think it is actually USB, not serial, but not sure that helps...

The one authorized US distributor of the XG-PCS-IC-1 wants $35 for the cable and a whopping $30 for FedEx Ground shipping. That's ridiculous.

I think it might be a USB to TTL cable. Likely uses a FT232RL or similar chipset. From what I gathered from one of the reviews it uses a six position RJ11 with pin 1, 2, 5, and 6 connected. Not clear which one is which nor what protocol.

Has anyone figured it out?

It's a 3.3V compatible TTL signal. Looking at the jack with the clip down with leftmost pin being 1:
1 - RX
2 - TX
6 - GND
