Is your front panel connector plugged in backwards? Try swapping it around. The FPIO connector is like this:

. _ . . . . . . . . . .
. _ . . . . . . . . . .

The FP connector only plugs into the pins colored in red.

So you referred to the manual for the correct pins to use for the POWER SW?

LOL..checked again. Think I had it upside down. Oh well... that's what lack of sleep does. I will try it again in a bit.. installing something at the moment.

Bingo ...everything working fine. Was able to install esxi 6.0 and hyper v 2016. Didn't try 6.5 as I didn't have the iso handy.

has anyone test this board with a V2 cpu yet. Board revision is only 1.02 so i wonder if it will accept a bios update which will run a v2 cpu with such an early board revision. some supermicro boards will not.

Mine came with 3.0a bios, which according to SM supports v2. I do not have any V2 procs to test with however.

sure. so to further explain my question, on many supermicro x9 mobos the early revision of the boards will let you upgrade the bios to 3.0 or 3.2 which the supermirco site says will accept a V2. But it does not work. Often early board revisions of the X9 boards will not accept a V2 cpu even with a 3.0 or higher bios

I can't say for sure yet since mine hasn't arrived, but the manual does specifically say it supports V2, and shows Rev. 1.02.

It's true that motherboards need to have had a minimum engineering change order to receive v2 support even with bios update.

If you email supermicro support email with serial numbers they can tell you which ECOs your board has, it may take a few back and forths though, not too bad. They are relatively responsive.
