Hoping someone maybe knows this answer or can confirm if what Supermicro told me is indeed correct. On the X12STH board, the specs state it supports 8 SATA and Intel RAID. On the Supermicro server configurator, it limits the drives you can choose for RAID at 4. So if you choose 8 drives, it won't let you say do a 4 drive RAID 5 and a 2 drive RAID 1. Supermicro support stated the same, but I haven't seen any documention that actually states this. Thank you to any who answer.

If this is VROC, then it does support > 4 drives in RAID 5, but only RAID 5 (as I recall anyway). And there are increasing caveats for using it in Raid 5 with > 4 drives (delayed parity checks). If it's not VROC, then I have no idea ;).
