With much sadness, I am selling my X10SRL-F on eBay, which I just listed for $250:

I bought it new so it even includes the block diagram poster! Also original receipt.

I don't have the box anymore, but the IO shield hasn't been opened, as it was in my CSE-836 this whole time - it very rarely got worked on, and never switched cases or CPUs. Muh baby!

I see a couple being sold from China for like $500 and I think it's outrageous, I can't believe people are trying to gouge each other so much right now, it's not cool

I can even make it a complete package if you like, and if it hits a certain price in auction I'll throw all the stuff in for "free".

Any questions please let me know. You rock, STH.

I belive you posted it in the wrong section. i think
For Sale/ For Trade/ Want to Buy
would have been a better place for it :)

Probably not counting as a great deal indeed.

When they get posted here (usualy as -CF so has sas3/lsi3008 also) its 160-200 area.
Its below the 500 listings that just sit there but its not great compared to the boards that actualy get listed and sell at 200-300.

Not a deal; and not the place to post this. It's an outdated platform for way too much money.

So let me try to understand this - the invoice you have on the ebay posting states that you bought it for 244 appx including shipping - and you want to sell it for 250?

How is that in any way a great deal?

Not affiliated with the OP, or advocating for his sale. But, I think his price is right in there with what people are wiling to pay on Ebay.

The market for used parts has been kind of nuts for a while now. If you're following prices, not a few components are going for more used than they were new. There's even folks willing to buy current generation products used on Ebay for more than they could buy them for new on Ama**n or Newe**, etc. Just kind of nuts right now.

As for this item, maybe a search for "sold" listings on Ebay is a good indicator of it's "worth" to buyers in general? Discounting the board that wasn't fully functional, over the last couple months $240 (shipped) is the lowest paid for one of these. And that board had a typo in the name, so maybe didn't reach everyone it could have on a seach. Sold prices for most are in the $250-$300 range. Or more for the ones that include CPU, even a $5 one like a 2609.

For a lot of stuff, its definitely a seller's market.

I guess the mods can move the thread.

But shall we be allowed to judge someone's sale price if we are not asked to? Don't think so. For a fact, some members above are also known not to begin with a 'reasonable' price, but to shift it down week by week until someone thinks it's worth it ... no it's not @Rand__ ;) :p

For a normal for sale - I kind of agree - but when something is posted in a "Greal deals" section, then I guess its fair game - if its not a great deal - and selling stuff for more than what you bought it for is not a great deal - and even if it matches the prices on ebay - its still not a "great" deal :)

Tell this to all the companies selling used IT stuff in size on eBay. Wondering how they all survive. Even in socialism, there is a very common drive to sell higher than you bought something.

I think you misunderstand me - I do not care if people sell for more than they bought for - just don't call it a great deal :)

Kinda weird to get rid of These because they have a Bunch of pcie lanes, CPU Support for more Core or high clocks and Support for Up to 256gb ram

What I still like on 2011-3 platform, whenever something breaks you still get cheap spare parts .... quickly. Pretty sure the seller will find a buyer for around 200 USD

Yeah, I see. If reasonable arguments are off the table, philosophy comes around the corner. What you think is 'not great' is maybe much 'much greater' in someone else's view. That's all it matters.

I have one of these boards and don't remember what I paid for it but it was nowhere near $250. I doubt it was half that. Prices are really nutso right now. Especially chassis prices. Deals do come along now and then but if you're not looking you're no gonna find them. Hopefully things will get back to normal soon, whatever that is.

The cheaper the processors and RAM get for the systems, the more the motherboards cost. The E5-2667 v4 at $60 is one heck of a nice CPU for the money. 64GB (4x16GB) of DDR4-2400 registered DIMMs can be had for under $100. I've seen some go for closer to $60.

That's definitely something that seems to happen with every platform.

Earlier on in their lifecycle, around when equipment starts coming off lease/goes off warranty, seems to me that motherboard prices seem to start falling, while CPU/RAM seem to prices stay elevated. A couple years after the hardware goes out of mainstream use and there's a supply on the used/secondary market, CPU prices start falling and motherboards start leveling off. Then, 8-10 years after introduction, you get an inversion where motherboards start getting more scarce (maybe because there's less of them to start with and they go bad more often than CPUs?) so prices start going up, but there's still a lot of CPUs, so they start going for cheap. Eventually, motherboards get pricy and CPUs are what's cheap. Haswell (X10 for Supermicro) is definitely at that point. Seems like, without exception, Haswell motherboards cost more now than they did 2-3 years ago. As a couple folks mentioned, many motherboards seem to be selling for almost what they cost when they were new. Part of that is supply craziness, but its also partially due to their age.

On the server side, I wonder if the first generation scalable may break the mold though, as the initial cost on those seemed to be so much higher than for Haswell/Broadwell? I'm definitely goiing to keep my Haswell/Broadwell E5 stuff going for as long as I can, and when they die I'll probably replace them with newer E3, AMD, etc. before I bother with scalable.
