Alternative?: Inventec B420GA0 1150 motherboard w/e3-1220 v3/16GB ECC/82599 10g/LSI 2008 SAS | eBay

I have this board and it is rock solid. Intel 10g nic that does sr-iov on ESXI 6.7 and 7.0. + sas2008. The pcie slot is 4x off the PCH though.
That's a neat board & package. RE: ESXI 7.0 - Is the LSI SAS2008 recognized in ESXI 7.0 automatically? I saw something about there being some changes with how drivers were handled and noticed it affected the SAS2008 and some other recommended FreeNAS hardware.

FWIW, my LSI 3008 & LSI 2308 SAS controllers work great in ESXI 7.0.

It's not supported, there is a warning when installing/upgrading to 7.0.

So you will be limited to baremetal FreeNAS, another hypervisor or esxi 6.7, which is really not that bad for what you get for $150.

I would definitely obo this though. I got the board alone from this seller for around $25. The ram + CPU can be had for less than $125 altogether on the bay.

That looks like a nice board, perfect for FreeNAS w/ 10Gb. Does the Ethernet interface have some type of IPMI interface on it?
Yup, it's got IPMI. Keep in mind that you will need an older version of java to use the console.

However, it works with supermicro's ipmiview app.

Is there a cable that will allow the on board SAS controller to connect to an expander backplane?
