Can I use a core i7 6850K on a SuperMicro motherboard? I can use non-Xeon chips on LGA 1151 on supermicro motherboards but I am not sure if this is also applicable for X99/C612 chipset motherboards.

If the CPU work, I assume I need to put non-ECC memory since i7 does not support ECC memory.

I never tried on a SRL, but Supermicro makes a X10SRA that can run both kinds of CPUs
