Hi, Any advice would help me here.

I have a potential deal on some DDR4 32GB REG RAM that I wanted to install into my Supermicro X10DRU-i+ however the ram in question is not listed on the supermicro website:

HYNIX: HMA84GR7JJR4N-VK

Approved Hynix modules as listed on Supermicros Website are :

HYNIX: HMA84GR7CJR4N-VK
HYNIX: HMA84GR7AFR4N-VK

I can't find anything conclusive to indicate what the JJ in the model number means as and if this would be compatible with my motherboard.

If anyone can shed some light on this that would save me from buying RAM I can't use.

Hello @VMman o/

I've found a PDF of the decode information.

The first letter in CJ and AF refers to the Die Generation 1st gen 2nd gen etc

The second letter refers to chip type used on the module

I can find no J in the first position.

I was assuming a typo but I can find listings for it from vendors.

Hmmmm.

It might be too new of a module (post 2017).
I see a good number of compatible modules for ~$120-130 for 32GB.

If the price is significantly less than $120 and the specs match up to a SM tested module, i'd chance it.

I've found a newer document (late 2019) but still no mention of a J Generation.

I've found a PDF from Intel regarding validation of these modules.

I have used modules not listed in the QVL and by chance rather than judgement they have worked.

Good luck

Thanks for the feedback, yes I was also puzzled as I couldn't find any info on the product decoder.
The RAM is $70/ea so I'll take the chance then.
