Sounds like they're replacing the processor, so that's a fair amount of work (not to mention a ~$240 part). I'm not too surprised by the figure.

Yes. The Xeon-D SoC has no separate chipset like the socketed platforms.

@altano I have had a lot of bad luck with Intel D-15XX in the last month. I have another RMA going at Asrock at the moment. I'm not sure if I want anything to do with the D-15XX platform again.

That sucks, sorry to hear that.

A lot of people on this forum love the D-15XX series and without a lot of issues (myself included). I think you may have just had some bad luck?

How far out of warranty were you when you board died?

Oh, odd. SM motherboards are supposed to have a 3-year warranty on labor so they should just be quoting you the cost of the part to be replaced. Hmmm.
