I know everyone is usually after 10GbE, 40GbE, and even 100GbE, but sometimes 1GbE will do. Figured since shipping alone on an item like this is probably $15-20, it's a decent deal if you want/need the cheapest switch you can get. I have no experience with any Supermicro networking gear myself, so can't really speak as to the quality unfortunately.

These units are now around $600-800 on ebay. That was a good deal and the switch was solid, albeit only L2.

I would not recomend this switch, its L2 only, its outdated(mine dont even have SSH) and getting a replacement is going to be pain in the rear.

if you want supermicro SSE-G48-TG4 may be a better option. This looks like a white-label switch, so there should be other vendors dealing the same hardware.
