Hello,
I have a strange problem with a new server.
Everything is working normal, but SGPIO is not working correctly!
With one sideband header connected the corresponding red fault/locate LEDs work as expected.
As soon as both sideband cables are connected the red LEDs don't work at all.
The setup is:
Supermicro SC825TQ (8-bay chassis)
LSI 9271-8i controller
2x CBL-0343L-01 (multilane breakout cable SFF8087 -> 4 SATA + SGPIO)
8x WDC 4TB SATA
1st multilane connector of LSI is connected to lower row of backplane (ports 0-3) and lower Sideband#1 header.
2nd multilane connector of LSI is connected to upper row of backplane (ports 4-7) and upper Sideband#2 header.
Jumpers on backplane are set for SGPIO mode as described in manual.
All drives are detected correctly and in the right order.
I'm testing the red LEDs with the "locate" function of the LSI controller.
Example:
- start locate on drive 0
- nothing happens (no red LED blinking)
- when I remove Sideband#2 connector: drive 0 starts to blink red as it should!
- reconnect Sideband#2: drive 0 stops to blink red!
- start locate on drive 7
- again nothing happens (no red LED blinking)
- then I remove Sideband#1 connector: drive 7 blinking!!
- reconnect Sideband#1: drive 7 stops blinking again!
So each row with its corresponding sideband works for itself.
But the 2 sidebands together seem to break both!
Now I've run out of ideas...
Did anyone get across such a problem?
Does anyone have a working SGPIO setup with this controller and chassis?
