Hello,

I have a Supermicro 4U chassis which uses the PWS-920P-SQ PSU. Can i replace it with a PWS-1K28P-SQ? Is the PDU compatible with this PSU?

Thanks

Depends on your chassis (well, PDU really). Some will support it, some won't. The 1280W one has a wider connector, so it won't fit in all.

@BlueFox , It is the chassis i bought from you in May 2017. It came with PWS-1K21P-1R originally. Do you know what PDU it has?

The server was seeing random reboots, so i was thinking of changing the PSU.

Is PWS-1K28P-SQ not a replacement of PWS-1K21P-1R?

Ah, yeah, I remember now. The PWS-1K21P-1R has the wider connectors, so you should have the correct PDU to fit the PWS-1K28P-SQ.

@BlueFox , I measured the connector widths for both these PSU. Th left connector measures 24mm, while the right one is 26mm on both the PSU. Are you sure about this?

I opened the chassis and checked the PDU, and it is PDB-PT846-8824. Is it compatible with PWS-1K28P-SQ?

Regrettably I'm not 100% certain then. I thought the 1200W units had the wider connector. Hopefully someone else can confirm.
