Another question guys, does the Supermicro H12SSL-CT with a 7643P Milan work with ddr4 2133? I have some sticks I want to test in order to sell, but the H12SSL-CT only detects 96 or 112 gb out of 128 gb (8x16gb modules)

possibly only a VCC buffer cap. there are others. but on heavy loads,in theory, you can get issues, i guess they don't solder them on just for fun.
It's always possible to solder a new one in (assuming the entire copper Trace wasn't pulled out as well) assuming it gives Problems.

It shouldn't be too hard, this is a (relatively) big SMD Component thankfully :D .

Some Flux + soldering Iron or Solder Paste + Hot Air Gun / PCB Oven.

There might be a Limitation e.g. if you put 2 DIMMs in all Channels except 1 or 2, then a single DIMM in the other.
I had that happen on a Supermicro X10SRL-F with a Xeon E5 2697 v4. If the RAM Configuration is "unbalanced" you will see an ERROR Message during POST and in IPMI Event Log.

Other Alternative is that some of your DIMMs are Damaged / bad Contact (or bent CPU/Motherboard Pins) and the DIMM initializes/works only Partially.
Also saw this Case on the same Motherboard as above: 48GB out of 64GB RAM Detected on one DIMM, basically 3 out of the 4 Ranks. ERROR would show during POST and in IPMI Event Log. You could check the detected RAM in Web Interface under Hardware Details or with dmidecode -t memory. If one DIMM is not detected or the size is "weird" then that might be faulty.

Check the IPMI Server Log for any Abnormalities though :).

10G overheat should not happen in supported SM chassis. the 2U and up have all 2+3 80mm 9K RPM FANs.
if you run the h12ssl not in a server chassis you have to replace the air-force with other proper cooling.
workstation motherboards look different.

Hi,
I have my home server built around Fractal Node 804 and ASRock Rack ROMED8U-2L2T board.
Recently I decided to rebuild it all, repack my main PC from ATX into this Fractal mATX case and build home server around ATX case instead.
I could leave my current ASRock board in it but decided to search something in full ATX format.
I could relatively easily purchase ASRock Rack ROMED8-2T ATX board but it is fairly expensive (like ROMED8U-2L2T was...) and I was afraid it would have the same amount of BIOS bugs and same poor vendor support as ROMED8U-2L2T had.

So decided to search for Supermicro H12SSL and... nothing available anywhere.
Eventually I contacted Polish (where I live) Supermicro distributor and asked whether H121SSL-..'s are current or legacy/archival products because not a single version of H12SSL is available at their store. They responed that it is of course 'current' product but deliveries from Supermicro are rare and lead times for orders are unknown/unpredictable...

But instead they offered me a refurbished H12SSL-i which was not listed on their webshop, with same 12 month warranty as brand new boards.
So I decided to buy it but that was not that easy either - they do not sell anything to private customers... I guess they do not want to deal with multiple end-customer rights (14-days returns etc.) that we have in EU. I had to ask a colleague who runs a single-perosn business to buy it and sell it to me.
It will arrive tomorrow.

I bought mine from same Polish distributor. Lot of troubles with them. Never again :D

PSA:

There’s a new firmware, v232, available for the BCM57416 Dual 10GBase-T onboard NICs that fixes the RDMA driver issues on newer Linux kernels (no need to blacklist bnxt_re anymore)

I contacted them as well. Very vague availability and wanted to sell me a refurbished one with different pricing than online, with unclear payment procedure. Was way too much fuffing about.
In the end I bought an in stock bulk version from a local vendor for a similar price. Found them via Idealo. So, no special magic.

My expierence with superstorage.pl (COMSET company) is quite good so far.
Yes, the prices on their webpage are different than they offered me via email but prices on their wepage are for brand new boards which they claim they had not available in stock for a long time and next delivery date is unknown. These prices are suspicioulsy low so probably outdated/from the time when they last had it available.
Via email they offered me a refurbished H12SSL-i board instead, not listed on their web page.

Purchase procedure was typical for B2B in Poland. I put an order via email, they sent me so called pro-forma invoice and money transfer was sent on the same day (Tuesday).
They received the payment on Wednesday and shipped the board to me via FedEx on the same day.
I received it yesterday (Thursday).

It is indeed a refurbished board - sticker on the metallized packing bag saying that it is a refurbished board tested twice by Supermicro and with quality, support and warranty equivalent to new board.
There are also two 'test confirmation' stickers attached to PCIe slots with mid-June 2025 dates so the board must be a fresh delivery - it did not spend a year in their warehouse.
It was delivered in generic cardboard box with two SATA cables and I/O shield included, no other accessories or documents included.

Indeed I can see two German shops on Idealo (Conrad and something else) selling new H12SSL-i's but for ~690 euro.
For refurbished H12SSL-i I paid at superstorage.pl equivalent of ~500 euro (with Polish VAT 23% and local shipping) so significantly cheaper than new H12SSL-i's are available in Germany.
Note that they say refurbished boards are covered with same 12 months warranty as new ones (same statement on the sticker on the packing bag) so I think it was worth it.

New H12SSL-i's are unavailable in Poland at the moment. Nearest 'competitor' I could buy here as brand new is AsRock Rack ROMED8-2T (or ROMED8-2T/BCM) for equivalent of ~730 euros (with 23% VAT).
ROMED8-2T is probably better-equipped board than H12SSL-i (10G Ethernet etc.) but given my experience with my present ROMED6U-2L2T tells me to stay away from AsRock for now.

Now I have to test this new board which will take me a few days...

Thanks, good to know that iTCare sells to individuals. They do not have H12SSL is stock in their web store but I did not reach out to them directly, maybe they have refurbs in stock as well. I just reached out to COMSET first...

Server hobbyists do not have an easy life here. Most Supermicro partners are large wholesalers that want only to sell to (large) companies that they have long-term relationships with and do not even have any kind of web stores.
Only smaller Supermicro partners do have web stores but in case of COMSET, they sell to businesses only.
I did not have motivation to reach out to each reseller individually, so I used search engines (like ceneo.pl - similar to idealo.de) but they obviously only list contents of web stores.
The only large retailer selling server-grade hardware to individuals in Poland is Morele.net - that is where I bought my ROMED8U-2L2T and EPYC 7303. Unfortunately, like others, they do not have H12SSL's in stock.
