Thank you for your comment!

how many i need in the minimum ? Two rdimm insered in the motherboard are enough ?

it's for a TrueNas server so i'm interested by advice about that

Someone have a good deal in europe? If possible new or in a shop!
A single dimm is sufficient…

it"s for a true nas server, so i can use less dimms i guess.

i'm looking too for the last gen of epyc,

motherboards are not a lot more expensive, dont know if it worth to put 600€ in almost 10 years old gen, if the last gen cost 200€ more bur with a 25gbit nic included
Anything newer than Epyc Milan is a complete waste for a truenas server in my humble opinion.

Let’s say you install a 100GbE adapter…a single PCIe gen 4 x4 U.2 SSD can generate 8GBps of bandwidth. So two drives will saturate the NIC.

If you’re using SAS or SATA drives you’d need a whole shelf full of disks to saturate the NIC.

Socket SP3 Epyc may be “old” but it’s insanely capable. Literally the only reason I can imagine needing new hardware in the next decade is if my server physically breaks.

You are right, i'm looking about the 7282, i can have it cheap in europe new ( with warranty )

Do you know if this memory will work with the H12SSL-i?

It's certified for the H11SSL, but nothing about the H12

Why do you care about warranty that much? Those amd CPUs are indestructible. I haven't read about single failure on this forum yet.

7402P is a good cheap NAS option with enough cores to run other things too

The vast majority of ddr4 rdimm/lrdimm will work. If you want an absolute guarantee of compatibility you need to buy from supermicro QVL.

I’ve never bothered with the QVL and I’ve never had a problem. I’ve always purchased micron/samsung branded modules but plenty of people here are buying cheap NEMIX modules without issues.

Those are designed for first generation EPYC platforms, it may or may not work. 3200 MHz RDIMMs offer the best compatibility for Supermicro H12 motherboards with EPYC 7002/7003 processors

That's not been my experience on the h12. I have had multiple modules just not even be recognized by the h12 while others with the exact same specs and same manufacturer work.

You need either RDIMM or LRDIMM.

you don’t need to pay for ddr4-3200 speeds though. 2666 is fine and muuuuch cheaper.

if you think you’ll need a lot of RAM I would personally suggest buying 64gb DIMMs and simply don’t populate every channel until you need to. You’ll harm memory bandwidth but for a homelab use case it’s almost always fine to do so.
so lower brandwich work fine ?

Right fair enough. Altho I don't advice random shops, @Tugm4470 is quite reputable here, you can search this forum, lots of people bought from him.

Can share my experience with serverpartdeals.com that everyone praises. I ordered 5 x Exos X20, all arrived DOA, not a single even booted to run smarts. Luckily, shop is indeed reputable, they refunded very quick.

I understand the warranty advantages, but I realize that when you

If building a new NAS from new parts with warranty and you need the EPYC feature set (basically tons of PCIe), I'd just go with Siena Mainboards AMD Epyc mit Sockel: SP6 Preisvergleich Geizhals EU
memory for this is really expensive:
