nope; I did send the motherboard to Supermicro but they sent same one back once the boot sequence worked finally
they didn't tell me anything beyond the order they did the clearing of BMC and CMOS might have been the reason it worked finally
I still don't really know why I was having this issue, but glad it's solved and the system is running really well

Ah, so it was SM who got it fixed. I guess you'd still be uneasy with future bios updates.

I asked Tugm to update to the latest before sending out, but I don't think he did before sending it out. We will see.

Yeah I tried just one DIMM in C1 and two in C1 D1, no luck
I've contacted the seller they seem pretty good with support so will see what I can do, if I had another CPU I could probably rule out that or the motherboard, but I don't atm

Edit: talked with the seller on eBay and we think there's an issue with the CPU so will try with another one (once I have another one)

Sorry with the help of Supermicro Support, I got it to work, not sure if it was a specific order of clearing the BMC and CMOS but eventually we got it to see the 7302P, been working great for weeks now (and yeah it was from Tugm who also provided tons of support)

On latest: BMC Firmware Revision:01.05.02 / BIOS Revision:3.0
We had updated these before getting the motherboard back during troubleshooting

I did the bmc and cmos firmware updates myself (via the bmc web interface), but like I said I've already updated to the latest versions now, so can't do any more until newer ones come out
I'll let you know when or if any more updates come out later on

Yeah, so we can’t know for sure that you won’t have the same issue again yet, which I’m worried will happen to me if I try to update mine.

I’ll try updating once I get the board and let you know.

Tugm gave me a free FedEx shipping upgrade when I purchased H11SSL-i, 7302p, 128GB 2133 memory. Arrived faster than a domestic ebay from Ohio, lol.

The board came with fw 1.52.00, and bios 2.1.
Updating both fw and bios to 1.52.21 and 3.0, respectively, went without a hitch via BMC.

Updating to 1.52.21 was crucial to getting IPMI Java to work.

By the way, I'm sure most of the STH members know this, but for the future members:

After installing Debian, I had trouble finding UEFI boot drive. The issue was that if you have both BIOS and UEFI boot option selected (DUAL), Debian install won't show up in UEFI. So I had to change to UEFI in the setup and reinstall Debian after which UEFI boot drive showed up.

Just in case someone has trouble with it in the future.

I just bought a H12SSL-i motherboard. I am trying to use memory that worked in my H11SSL-i motherboard.
I have 4 sticks of 32gb 2666 memory.
When I first booted the H12SSL, I got a supermicro splash screen. It rebooted itself and I got another supermicro splash screen.
I have had no video since then.

I can access the IMPI and it shows the 2666 mhz sticks. I have asked supermicro support if 3200 mhz memory is required, and they say that all the recommend memory is 3200 mhz.

Does anyone have a H12SSL working with memory that is slower than 3200 mhz?
