I made the silly mistake of upgrading the BIOS and BMC of a supermicro H11DSI-NT to the latest version (BIOS 3.5 / IPMI 01.52.23). The problem I have now is that when I do an orderly shutdown (whether initiated from the OS or from IPMI) it reboots instead of shutting down.

IPMI hard shutdown and clicking on power button during boot still works to shutdown.

It seems to be a firmware issue. I found and downgraded to IPMI 01.52.21 but same problem. BIOS config:
- Quiet Boot: Enabled
- Re-try Boot: Disabled
- Watch dog function: Disabled
- Restore on AC Power loss: Stay Off
- Power Button Function: Instant Off

Would anyone have an earlier BMC firmware version, or any idea of how to fix this?

I think this combination of BIOS/IPMI is bugged. I have the same mobo (H11DSi-NT) and when I upgraded to these versions of BIOS/IPMI, I lost the 2 10gbe onboard NICs. And by "lost" I mean they're no longer visible within the BIOS. Worked fine before the upgrades, and disappeared after. And before someone asks - NO, I did not mess with any jumpers before, during, or after the updates.....

So supermicro support has been pretty helpful. In the end we managed to fix it by downgrading the BIOS+IPMI and reinstalling the OS.

Rev 2 or older ?
Mine is Rev 2. Supermicro support had me try the usual - downgrade BIOS/IPMI and remove checkmarks for retain current info.

I suspected it wouldn't go well when they're initial instruction was for me to down to an old version of IPMI that wasn't signed. A clear violation of the warning within the release notes of the most current version of IPMI, which is what I'm running.

Their latest note says "I've escalated this issue to our motherboard PM. I'll keep you updated as soon as I hear back from him/her." So fingers crossed they can think of something
