Not sure how much of a Great Deal it is, considering there are no Caddies included, and it uses an Expander SAS2 Backplane (BPN-SAS2-826EL1).

I would love to have it if it had the BPN-SAS2-826A Backplane or even better the more recent BPN-SAS3-826A-N4 Backplane (with Support for 4xNVMe Drives),

There are Options for Rails & Quieter PSU, but then the Cost increases (significantly).

Probably NOT worth for me to have it shipped across the Atlantic  .

+$50 shipping in the US, btw.

I actually bought one of these about a week ago. Looks like they reduced the price by about $20 since. It was clean and well packaged. Had Groupon inventory barcode stickers and IXSystems badging. Had an empty spot where a 2x 2.5" drive bay was. The rails are actually pretty reasonably priced (they seem to be getting harder to find).

I didn't see that there were Shipping Costs within the US actually .

eBay is really messed up, at least for me. I have to change my Address in like 3-4 different Places (Top of Page, Account -> Address -> set as Favorite Address, and in the Cart/Checkout Process, assuming it lets me do it, otherwise click on Seller's Shipping Information and change it from there) in order to Bid and/or get it shipped where I want to. At which point the other Locations (e.g. eBay.de) start complaining as well that they don't deliver to the US whereas eBay.com finally works within the US :D .

Its cheap compared to this supermicro case i tried to bid on :D
Already halfway regret not putting my autobid higher, not too often appliances like these get listed (its a netflix open connect from their CDN).

If that CSE-826 is new in box it would not be bad, but for used ones they are fairly common around 150-200$ free shipping with something like a x10srh-cf or x10srl-f and modest 64-128gb spec.

Well the Sale ended unfortunately now it's back to 119 USD.

It's "cheap" but no Rails, no Caddies, etc.

I thought you would have had something better in Mind for the same Price to fill a Pallet :p .

By the pallet cases like these cost almost nothing.
The problem is that unless you need them all they are bulky and fairly low margin after packing materials and time spent on handling/packing/shipping.

Pallets of cases can be a bit like opening gacha capsules if its from a small liquidator/broker tho.
Often some full units with mobos or just 1-4tb LFF 600-900gb SFF drives left in the trays as they dont want to spend the time unscrew/test/sell.

That backplane can be found fairly easy at a reasonable price, at least in the US. I have 4 sitting in a box that I got for $193 before shipping and tax. That's less than $50 each. Even with the horrible shipping cost ($12.95 each, no combined shipping), I paid about $62 each. To find that kind of bargain, you have to have some kind of active searching/alerts, but it can be done.

OTOH, you can get them any time at about $100 each with free shipping.

My opinion is if you find a really great deal on an Supermicro 826 (especially an 826B where you can easily add 2 hot swap 2.5" drives in the back), get it, and then just buy the backplane you want.

The original post is a solid deal on an 826 (even an A), since you can get drive caddies for $5/each with free shipping and power supplies for $20 /each with free shipping. That's $120 + $50 + $60 + $40 == $270 for a complete 2U case, ready to install your motherboard and drives. You can only rarely find an 826 with caddies and power supplies for that price (including shipping), and most of those are the WIO variants.

Right now, though, there is an 826B with standard low-profile slots, power supplies and caddies for $270 shipped. You'd have to get a different motherboard to be able to use the rear drive bays, but it's still the best deal right now.

Well, you are describing them as a Good Deal for you in the US maybe.

Shipping those across the Atlantic is likely more than doubling the Cost. Is that still a Good Deal at that Point ?

Last Time I got a SC826 I got if from the UK and delivery to EU was reasonably priced.

But yeah, not much availability lately  .

If you only need a few you a probably gone be better off pricewise grabbing some when disker has them in stock.

They tend to be reasonably priced on cases (for being Europe), like their 319€ for cse-847 or 438€ with 36 caddies is far below what the competition charges in Europe.

Reasonable yes, but not a Seller that is open to negotiation at all, even though they leave most of their Articles "Open to Offers".

I ended up buying some MiniSAS - SATA Cables from the US at around 4x lower Price since they didn't want to negotiate at all.

As for the Chassis I was looking into a Supermicro SC847/CSE-847 with an UK Supplier who is good to deal with, even though they also seem to be quite Stubborn on Price (and of course the Deal depends on Fedex Last-Minute Pricing of ~ 40-50 GBP for a 4U Server, regular Pricing is off the Charts, like 150-200 GBP per each 4U Server). Not sure if I will buy either of them at this Point  .

Too bad I couldn't find any Official or Unofficial Procedure to convert a Supermicro CSE-825 / SC825 into a CSE-826 / SC826, otherwise I would go that route most likely  .

The back "Window" seems close enough, so adding support for the CSE-826B (with a space for 2x2.5'' Rear Hotswap Adapter) should be possible without much difficulty.

The main Issue I guess is the USB Ports + Serial + Power Control, which on the CSE-825 is in the "middle" (shifted to the right a bit), while on the CSE-826 it's completely on the Side.

I have a lot of these CSE-825, and so far I could add 2x2.5'' via a 3.5'' to 2x2.5'' Hot Swap Adapter, but especially with the CSE-826 Backplane with 4xNVME (U.2) Drive Support, it would really be good to avoid these Adapters, super expensive and difficult to cool down, with NVMe Drives.

@Cruzader: I just tried sending an Offer to Disker for the Chassis without Caddies (I got a good Deal from the UK for the Caddies, although it was a bit messed up since they sold what I had ordered before and only ended up getting 32 Caddies instead of 64) ...

280 EUR / Piece instead of 320 EUR / Piece including VAT for the Chassis, plus 59 EUR Shipping for each.

So around 338 EUR / Piece including Shipping & VAT.

Does that seem like a Reasonable Offer for Europe ?

It's quite expensive compared to the US but consider that it will likely cost me another 200 EUR just to import 2 of them from the US ... I don't know.

Does that seems reasonable to you ? If they sold it at the 200 EUR I originally offered it would be a no-brainer but this is already 160 EUR more in Total ...
