Anyone know the max heatsink height for this chassis? i.e. will a SNKP0064AP4 fit (126mm tall)? The prices of the 4U cases in europe is through the roof and quite frankly embarrassing.

Unlikely. 1U = 1.75" or 44.45mm, therefore 3U = 133.35mm. If you remove known component heights like Mainboard standoff's, board thickness, socket+chip/ heatsink mount height etc and allow a few mm of clearance to the inside of the lid, that should give you the ballpark height of any heatsink you can use :)

You need the 2U version of that heatsink (SNK-P0048AP4). AFAIK, SM does not make an active 3U heatsink. Noctua does though. I have a couple and they're a great fit in SM 836 chassis.

Here’s the link to the 3U Noctua (if it’s compatible with your CPU)

I just picked a random 836 (you typo'd the thread title) chassis and asked Noctua for the answer. Looks like 110mm, since 115mm won't fit.

Thanks all for the help - this is for epyc so there aren't too many options out there. Seems Noctua doesn't make a 3U for Epyc and SNK-P0063P or SNK-P0063AP4 are my only options?

I have several of these in 836s. They work great!
