I am looking buying the following combo

Supermicro CSE-503-200B
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=11-152-107
http://www.supermicro.com/products/chassis/1U/503/SC503-200.cfm

Supermicro X7SPE-HF-D525
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813182243
http://www.supermicro.com/products/motherboard/ATOM/ICH9/X7SPE-HF-D525.cfm

i am looking to add a third intel NIC via a riser card but I can not find anywhere that'll tell me which riser cards fit with that particular combination. The closest I can get is this SM SuperServer, the 5015A-EHF-D525 http://www.supermicro.com/products/system/1U/5015/SYS-5015A-EHF-D525.cfm. it is the same motherboard, but a different chassis and recommends the RSC-RR1U-E16 riser card right on the product page. I'd like to try and use the 503 chassis because the rear I/O panel of the motherboard is on the front of the rack.

I was about to hit up support@supermicro.com, but thought to check with those here. some of you guys seem to know the supermicro catalog very well.

any thoughts?

for future reader's reference, SM got back to me and confirmed that CSE-503-200B and X7SPE-HFD525 can use the RSC-RR1U-E16riser card with the exact same configuration options at the 5015A-EHF-D525 superserver (which uses the 502 chassis).

I see this is kind of an old thread, but I am in a similar situation and have a question for you. I was looking at the CSE-503-200B case, but told by SM support that i need the CSE-503L-200B.

They sent me this link. http://www.supermicro.com/support/faqs/faq.cfm?faq=11526

My questions are. Did you ever build this system, how is it running; and are you having any heating/power issues?
Just for reference, I have the X7SPA-H board.

i never did get this built. I ended up downcycling hardware for a pfsense box.

now that I am familiar with pfSense, were I to do this build now, I would forgo the riser and third NIC. with a vlan capable switch (Dell PowerConnect 2724 for me) you can use two physical NICs, one for WAN and one for trunk to many different vlans on the switch. its a bit confusing at first, but I haven't run into any hurdles in a typcial home environment
