Hi everyone,

First of all, I'm brand new into this "servers world" and I got a bunch of things to learn. That's why I'm here :)

I got this case, and it comes with a backplane where you plug HDDs in hot swap bays on one hand and to molex and SATA3 on the other hand, to the motherboard. On this backplane, the chip is the AMI MG 9071, and it's been told in the chassis's manual that :

"With the built-in AMI MG 9071 chip, the SAS733TQ Backplane allows the user to configure RAID 0, RAID 1 and RAID 5, maximizing data storage capability and data transferring reliability"

ButI still have no ideas on how to configure my disk plugged (and visible in Windows) in RAID 5 array. Can anyone has a previous experience with this backplane or knew the solution please ? I have retrieved the backplane manual on smicro, but no mentions about RAID in it (you'll find it attached).

Thanks in advance !

The AMI MG9071 only lets a RAID card do things like blink LEDs upon failure. You still need a RAID card (or use software RAID).

OK, thank you for your answer ! Good thing I have purchased one, I was just wondering if this chip could do the same thing.

Have a nice day.
