Hello,

I've been researching about a 1U build with E5-1650 CPU. I've decided on the following parts:

Motherboard: X9SRI-F
Chassis: SC113MTQ-563CB

Then I got worried about if it will be good to cool this heat monster CPU.

What would you suggest?

I'm considering to go with a 2U chassis instead, using the same motherboard, to get a better cooling.

I've checked the supermicro's website and seen this 2U chassis:

SC213LT-600LPB

Would this motherboard fit in the 2U chassis above? If so, would it be fine to cool the system down?

I have heard many people say that 130w cpus in a 1u is not ideal because they create too much heat in one spot to cool efficiently. 2 60w cpus spread heat generation out more and would be ok. not scientific but based on that I would go 2u

serverian,

I have a 130W cpu running on a Supermicro SC512 for two years so you will not have heat problems with SC113MTQ.
