Rotterdam, The Netherlands
The cases are Supermicro SC847A-R1400LPB.
Passive backplanes with SFF-8087 connectors.
The controller cards that are in there now are SAS1/Sata2 so if you want to use disks larger then 2TB you will have to replace the controller cards. Originally, they probrably, came with AOC-SASLP-MV8 cards.
Since the backplanes are passive upgrading to 6Gb or 12Gb will be easy.

Well, that's too much, also no Trays.
I wonder if it would be a an option to replace with an X9DR7-LN4fF currently in an 826.

Then drop:
- the 10Gbe
- one of the adapters and put the drives of if to the onboard 2308

So 2 pci slots should be free for two connectx-2 => decent networking :D

Maybe also replacing the A - Backplane in the back with an SAS2 could be interesting ...

Still tempted to just grab one and then see how to make the best of it ....

Anyone tried a Best Offer?

Looks interesting, costs about €100,- shipping... but also received my HGST 60Bay a few days ago... hmmm.

Will swap out the internals for my X10-DRL-i , so prob have to resell the internals and keep the chassis

I just put a reasonable BO, one competing ...

Not sure about the caddies, those with black, unbranded caddies come without rails, what is sad ...

Yes, price is still very good.
Did you get the silver caddies with rails or black without rails ?
Still not certain if it`s not cheaper to buy rails and not 36 (minus what i have left) caddies.
Best would be if the silver-plastics stuff could be removed from them, so that they are back in there original state without branding ...

I actually like the branding hehe.. the silver looks way better than the black.

I'm still on the fence.. that's €2000,- of expenses in 1 month hehe
