Supermicro 846 X variants, 13 FH slot chassis - Where can these be found?

I'm looking around for a specific variant of the 846 chassis, the x variant one(s). I cannot seem to find any history of these being on ebay, and would like to buy one for a reasonable-ish price if possible. These variants are not distinct from the standard style 846 in the front, and have the 24x3.5 bays as usual. The party is in the back. It has 4x power supply slots (2x optional) running across the bottom and a hole for 6x 2.5 inch bays right next to them, 2 of those hot swap. The real killer here is the slots. It has support for 13 full height full length slots. Why, exactly? Well, for gpu crap and general space. Ever wanted to stuff in tons of crap and have to resort to risers to move things out of the way to unblock slots? This is the chassis for you. Unfortunately, it doesn't support greater than standard full height cards, but there's enough room that you could just use a riser and tuck that gpu in there sideways.

Just look at how much you could stuff into one of these things:

The difference between them seems to only be the backplanes, but I could be wrong.

Cheap? You're not going to find one easily. They were very uncommon as they only supported a single motherboard for 3 generations and were not sold as barebones. The 3U version was far more popular. If it's not on eBay, then you're generally out of luck.

I never said cheap, only reasonable. Reasonable being under 1000 dollars.

Also, that explains it. Thank you. Do you know the name of the 3u with so many slots?

Unless you're quite patient, probably only going to be able to get one new.

Other chassis is the 835XTQ-R982B. Doesn't have the same density of 3.5" bays however. It's used in the 6039P-TXRT, 6038R-TXR, and 6037R-TXRF barebones.

There's also the 842XTQ-R606B (which is 4U and would permit taller GPUs), but it's also rare. I do see single unit on eBay however, but do keep in mind the PSUs are only 600W.

Cool, thanks for letting me know. Do you know of the models the ones I was talking about in the original post? It may be better to search for the whole system instead lol.

Also, the supermicro 747 seems to come in 9 or 11 slot variants. Really nice beast, but doesn't support the hard drives sadly.

As mentioned in my first reply, the chassis in your original post were never sold as barebone systems, contributing to their rarity.

I know. I was wondering what systems they were sold as, so that I can find and maybe buy the whole system.

I dont intend to stick to the motherboard that came with it. And no, no ribbon cables. Risers with rated pcie cables. I would be using something like this:

I don't care about achieving pcie 4 speeds on something like this anyways, since gpus don't use more than gen 3x 16 iirc.
