FAN-0125L4 is hard/expensive to come by (at the moment) - any alternatives?

I just did the upgrade to the 007L4 from the base fans and my god it makes all the world of difference, drops the hurricanes down by 2/3 and make it near unpossible to hear the server.

And those fans are relatively cheap when bought directly from the SM store.

I changed the fanwall - removed it and replaced with 3x noctua industrial fans. Changed the 2 rear ones with 2x noctua 80mm ones - would possibly change these to some higher output ones if I had to redo it today.
And then an SQ PSU is a very nice addition aswell :)

Have poster pics before. Check my history

Anyone interested in a heavily modified 846 with a TQ backplane? If so, contact me. I consolidated my servers to some Dell R720's and as such have an 846 I gutted and put in a 120mm fan wall + modified for a standard PC power supply... Willing to let it go pretty cheap.

Did you use the green enclosures with the 007L4, or did you remove the fans and place them into 126L4 case?

    Thanks

Is it still available? I just want to know the cost of getting it. If it is within my budget would like to get a second machine for my setup.

Removed the green enclosure and put the fans in the existing enclosure. This was the only way the fans would work in the system.

In the 836 the back fans are slightly different -- I believe they are FAN-0125L4s. Does anyone know if they will work in these as well?

The sound / tone that the 126s make are very objectionable!

Had to sign up just to comment that this mod worked well. I swapped out then fan from a FAN-0126L4 with that from FAN-0074L4 and the noise level has decrease substantially.

Take the fan from unit FAN-0074L4 (green) out of the housing: https://photos.app.goo.gl/NWD1kVFqvehdWcbq6

Take the fan out of unit FAN-0126L4 (beige). The cable clip is tricky use a small screwdriver: https://photos.app.goo.gl/qjm9jiTnDhyUoR2L7

Cut a notch to make fan FAN-0074L4 fit their original (beige) housing: https://photos.app.goo.gl/iGtYT7JWyBqJMfYb6
