As the title suggests, has anyone tried this; similar to what's being done on the Dell C6100s?

If so, how did you do it?

I assume you are talking x8dtt's here or similar? People have done it - see Repin a PSU for Supermicro X8DTT - jonnyGURU Forums - that thread links out to a few useful places. PITA that they (Supermicro) use custom PSU connections. Btw I assume you have the x8dtt model with the pseudo ATX connections and sata interfaces etc as opposed to the OEM cableless model where that (I assume) would be a great deal harder to mod.

I actually don't have anything just yet. I've been keeping my eye on them as it seems they might go for equal or even less than a similar Dell 6100 4 node setup. But the idea is to buy one with 4 nodes and potentially make a couple work as a single node workstation.
