please show the fan with the same CFM but much less fan noise :D
you can not beat space constraint on 1u. you would replace with lower CFM and RPM.
on my knowledge replacing low RPM and CFM on 1U is useless due on space constraint.
Here's the fan in my NetGear GSM7328Sv2:
http://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/EFB0412VHD/603-1010-ND/1014341

Here's an equivalent fan that's quieter (maybe not "much less" according to your standards though):
Amazon.com: Sunon 40x40x20mm 3 pin fan #KDE1204PKVX: Computers & Accessories

Here's a fan that's probably close enough with decent airflow that's logarithmically almost half as loud:
http://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/AFB0405MB-R00/603-1764-ND/3766671

Also take into consideration the specifications of the chassis and it's temperature ratings. If your equipment is in a basement like mine and it doesn't ever get above 60 degrees, you have some wiggle room to play with and can lower your CFM while still maintaining a safe temperature range.

those fans are loud :D..., do you know how many 40mm fans in 1U? :D
40mm 8000 rpmto 9000 rpm,is much quite than 1U fan?..
the 40mm 1U fans in this thread is PWM :p. I think 3000-10000RPM (max) that depend on BIOS setting and temperature.
your link is non PWM.

Also don't forget that SM's fans are designed to cool the maximum TDP processors behind the maximum hot HDDs. Their assumptions for the 1U chassis are based on dual 1115W CPUs behind a disk backplane full to 8x 15k SAS drives. You don't need anything near the same airflow to cool a single 65W CPU behind a backplane full of SSDs. There is a lot of headroom for quieter fans when you are not populating maximum design components into these 1u chassis.

Also, remember that you really don't have to replace the fans to achieve this. Just slow them down a bit.

mostly, I configure on the Bios to "something quite rpms". that mostly work well ( can not be compared with desktop computer for quiteness)

Um...I got my hands on a uniprocessor, E5-1620 V2. Is it possible to install it into this board? If E5-26xx is required, do I need to populate both CPUs or can I just populate one. Finally, do both processors have to be the same? Thanks!

You should be able to install the E5-1620 V2. If it does not work, you'd most likely just need to flash the BIOS to a V2 enabled version (some of these systems may have been made during V1 only days) and your processor will work.

If you did want to do 2 CPUs you would instead need two E5-26xx series processors and you would want them to be the same. You could, however, install one processor then later install the second.

You can run 2 different cpu's so long as they are the same stepping. But they will run at the lowest common speed... so you will waste whatever performance extras you had. Not sure about mixing core count though.

Has anyone got theirs in yet? Was it the 7 or i version? What accessories were included (heatsinks, risers etc.)?

That is a good price. I think I paid more than that for two sets of 4.
I know the feeling. I just found them, and had already picked up 32 for $100 shipped, which seems pretty good until I came across those.

I am still looking for a great price on rails if you came across any.
