just saw this on ebay:
Sun Oracle Flash Accelerator F40 400GB Solid State Memory 7104482 M10 w/Warranty

for 99$ BIN + 15 ship (no best offer option) QTY shows over 10 + units, 11 sold already , i personally am not familiar with this particular model, but I did look up the data sheet and it has great specs (although the data sheet does not have wear endurance info, beyond "advanced wear endurance" lol)

hopefully others can chime in on if there an issue or catch with this particular model / unit (ie maybe it only works on specific OS / no wide OS driver support)? So i wanted to bring this potential deal to everyone attention. ( i did search sold listings for this item and quite a few sold for much higher and in some cases double or triple this price)

Sun Oracle Flash Accelerator F40 400GB Solid State Memory 7104482 M10 w/Warranty

oracle' data sheet:
http://www.oracle.com/us/products/servers-storage/storage/flash-storage/f40-data-sheet-1733796.pdf

EDIT: im not sure why, but when i try to click my ebay link above its not working (and eventually redirects me the plain ebay.com homepage), so here is the ebay item number u can search with:
182084360894

Says WarpDrive on the back, suggests it's possibly a WarpDrive Nytro F40 400GB. No idea if I'm right, I could be spouting absolute BS (I do have a mixed presales/delivery role after all).

And there appear to be 97 available. I might grab a couple on spec, though I don't think they're bootable which would suit me better.

Edit: If like me you couldn't get the OP's link to work consistently, try this alternative.

Searching eBay for "F40 400GB" finds one for less. 120 with free shipping. Offers considered. Don't know but they look the same to me.

Offer accepted for 6 x $70 each, but shipping is way too high ( $69.95 for 6 drives shipped to CA ). I was about to offer $75 each but decided to offer $70 each to offset high shipping cost. Total for 6 is $489.95

See this thread from March 2016 related to LSI Nytro Warp SSD
1.2TB LSI Nytro Warp Drive PCIe SSDs - $240

I picked 4 x 1.2 TB version @ $200 each , Total $800 + $15 shipping for 4 LSI Nytro drive.
Sadly, the 4 1.2TB LSI Nytro are still in the shipping box for the time being.

im sure many may know this, but now-a-days alot of sellers are cranking up the shipping to way above cost as a way to offset ebay's new (as of 2014/2015) obscene fees and fee structure. The seller does not pay ebay's usually ~ 10% fee on any shipping costs. So always be sure to check shipping on ebay listings... often times the seller will discount any qty above 1 too (but not in this case as i assume he is trying to avoid ebay fees)..

add to that the 4-6% of paypal fees and ebay is swimming in the money from both ends :(

Im glad that i ended up posting this deal as i was hesitant to do so at first bc i didnt really know the specific product (but i had a feeling that any pcie SSD for ~ 100$ usually is a good deal)!

I am sure one of us would gladly find a home for those 1.2tb ones you have if you are not using them :)

Grr it looks like the seller has all low-profile cards. Anyone know if a standard LSI full size PCIe bracket will fit, since it seems to be an LSI SAS2008 chipset?

They should but I won't find out until Wednesday or Thursday.

I'm having hard time finding the OS Support on these. Oracle's data sheet just says Qualified Sun servers and operating Systems. Can one of you buyers do some testing for us? I'm interested in FreeBSD, Debian/Ubuntu, and/or ESXi support. Or do we know for sure its a LSI WarpDrive Nytro F40 400GB and would have same driver support?

Has anyone ever used any Oracle rebadged stuff before? I can imagine them hard coding something to only work with Oracle "certified" hardware (not my favourite vendor of all time I must say)

I thought it was a "normal" LSI 2008 controller with 4x 128gb ssd in Raid0. But I might be wrong. Doubt it is locked down, but I have no idea. I am always more concerned by EMC and NetApp stuff...

I've used Sun branded Adaptec cards in the past in various systems without issues. I think I even got the drivers (Windows) on Oracle's site.

Maybe I suck at navigating oracle's website but I think it requires a support subscription to access any firmware or drivers. I have a account, but need a 'Support Identifier' to continue.
