Been having trouble setting up storage spaces direct. I've got my LSI 2308 controller in IT mode and tried both the p20 and now p19 firmware

I'm still getting an issue with eligible drives:

Is there any way to get these accepted?

What is the bus type on those disks?

Sas?
Raid?

If raid you need to get an NBA controller and not a raid card.

SAS HBA direct. Not raid. I understand Raid is not supported. That's why I flashed IT mode for the controller.

Not sure which version of Windows Server you're using, but there was a "requirement" for SES for S2D. It won't work without a compatible SES implementation (on the backplane/expander etc).

I think in the latest update (or the one before that), they dropped this requirement.

Yeah 2016 had a hard requirement for SES and just won't work properly without it (you'll get disk collisions and missing disks if I remember correctly, even if you manage to get it created). You could try current Windows Server 2019 insider builds - they should enable S2D without that requirement and it'll be released (again) relatively soon.

I have 2x nodes with below:
Intel(R) C610 series/X99 Chipset Management
Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2670 v3
LSI Adapter, SAS2 2308 Mustang - I was looking over the catalog and think it needs 9300/ 3008 type card instead so I'm going to give that a try.
QLogic BR-series 10G Ethernet Adapter

flashback the old firmware and create a raid 0 with 1 disk and try it.
I did that for my HP DL360 Gen 8 for the Azure stack testing.

it's in IT mode already which is HBA only. that's what I've seen elsewhere that was supposed to make it work. That means there's no raid being done on the card. Passthrough the drives.

Server 2019 with an LSI 3008 card is giving the same complaint.

I got a few SAS drives that came out of a SAN, the SSD from a compellant and the HDD from Equallogic. I've flashed IT mode

I've got the same Failover Cluster test warning. Has anyone determined if this is a dangerous issue? I'm afraid I'll need to move to 730XD with the HBA330.
