I got two of the M500DC, seems like a good deal at $29. Both report as 100% but the Total host written is widely different. How is it possible for the drive with heavy writes to still be 100%. Looking at the specs, the 800gb model is rated at 1.9PB. Wouldn't those numbers add up to a little over 1PB, or close to 50% endurance left?

I suppose that would depend on the write pattern and density. Wear levelling can do a whole lot of stuff depending on what is written, and how.

how do you even search like these?
i didnt understand your question until i saw some other replies to it (from ppl who clearly did understand it):

Some great ebay search methods have been mentioned already, another trick i do is to search via the drive size + (sas or enterprise), ie:

3.84 sas
1.92 sas
or you can do the model number;
pm1643
husmr
ssd1600

(no search is perfect, and you will miss some listings ofcouse) - it just takes time (but i enjoy it!)

(damn i wish ebay would get their search syntax working correctly, you still cant easily- NOT / AND on ebay searches :(

at some point i usually make a table, similar to this one w the important specs (write IOPS, wear endurance, size) (a table im doing now,):
