I'm so far disconnected with Phi that could bore me or keep me on the edge of my seat!Trying for local to start just to get an idea of how to work on these.
If we can get fun items like Knights Landing Xeon Phi - might that be fun? Big JBODs? Ceph? Xeon D? Other?
JBODS and Xeon D are very hot topics right now, I'd shoot for those.

I have a GoPro and decent webcam, I may be able to grab a couple nicer conference mics too.
SFO is closer, and lodging is going to be OK, being in silicon valley expect to pay a pretty penny.
OAK is another 15/20 minutes out but traffic moves faster. from there maybe rent a car and get a room in... milpitas/fremont?
Chris - SJC is closest, SFO is second and OAK is third. Silicon Valley is not great for cheap hotels, especially in Mountain View/ Sunnyvale/ Palo Alto.
I think folks need to schedule business trips with Friday meetings which would help.
I would hold off on booking travel until we can get confirmation on a venue.

It is one of the places in the Valley that makes me feel like I am in startup/ programmer haven. Even moreso than Plug and Play. Fun to get to see the difference between there and Moffett Towers.
Looks like Supermicro/ Intel are going to bring fun supplies (Knight's Landing, Xeon D, the 90 bay JBODs, maybe other things that are not released yet...) so we may just be tagging along for the space.
I haven't been there myself. But the meetup is a great idea; it's now in my calendar.
