For those who are keeping an eye out for one of these secondhand, or looking for something similar elsewhere in the world, they are often used in small recording studios - so if your looking to buy one, give the recording section of ebay a look as well. Likewise, for looking to buy one of these mini racks new - also keep an eye out in shops that sell recording / live sound equipment.

That is a good trick. I saw $45 + Prime and decided just to get this one since it got here quickly.

OnStage RS7030 Rack Stand <~~ link
- $30 on Amazon ...free shipping if you pad order to $50
- Comes with pack of screws ... four per 1U (48-50 total)
- Has top brace and rear brace

I've had one of these for over 10 years now.
One still holds Cisco CCNA Lab equipment (about 8 1U devices total).
My newest virtualization lab also uses the OnStage RS7030 Rackstand <~~ link

The OnStage unit does have a lean to it like the Startech, but I notched mine so it can stand
at 90 degree + angle to the base.

What this means is I can use all 12U space and once I put my UPS at the bottom,
it is rock solid and isn't going anywhere.

I am not knocking the Startech unit.. as I don't have one...but all the negatives listed
for the Startech can be eliminated with this RS7030 Rack Stand - and it's cheaper.

Not much to it...but if anyone has questions, please feel free to ask.
I plan to do a proper entry in the DIY build section too.

@Netwerkz101 that is a round hole rack or are the pictures not clear? Are there mounts on the side for cable management?

I think for $15 more I'd rather have standard square holes.

They are round holes.
I know the squares allow a more universal use and def. for a true 4 post rack for servers.
I look at this stand for short depth equipment with standard rack mount ears.

There are no mounts on the sides - but this is where DIY comes in.
I plan to add cable management to mine in the back (again DIY mod) since my I/O is in the back.
