Spice Server failure prevents auto-start of guest

This error is driving me nuts and I can't seem to figure out why it's failing. I've got a basic install of Debian Buster with qemu/libvirt and am utilizing Cockpit as the simple server mgmt UI.

VM creation and everything works fine via Cockpit and even using the console within the web ui works fine as well (note it does default to VNC in the web ui for the console).

However, when setting the auto-start setting for the guest and rebooting, the VM does not start and has the following error:

I installed some additional spice related packages but to no avail. Still the same error. I reviewed the XML config for the guest and tried removing the references in the graphics sections to spice and tested again. Low and behold it worked!! Auto-started right up.

Now it seems the Cockpit-Machines process builds the virt-install command based upon reviewing the virsh domcapabilities output and on my host it shows sdl (serial), VNC, and spice. My understanding is that the domcapabilities output is automatic based upon what virsh detects on the host so it's saying spice is supported....but it's just not working :)

I know the simplest approach is probably just be sure to edit the config each time if going through cockpit to make VMs or more directly just login via ssh and create VMs directly myself with virt-install but this error is happening for SOME reason and I want to figure it out

Any insight is appreciated.

Do you have a copy of your guest virt xml file?
See below. This was created via the Cockpit-Machines Web interface mind you. Additionally, for the other VM guests I have that ARE auto-starting, what I did was remove the section of code...
