The seller used https://www.coinpayments.net/ and it was just as easy as using a credit card or paypal.
Of course I researched the sellers reputation before I spent my Monero on my purchase, a few things plus a Monero T-shirt

The main reason I posted this is that I am impressed with how far cryptocurrencys have come and how easy it is to purchase things online using them from the few sellers who actually accept them.
