If you have a Dell Powerconnect switch and are using SFP or SFP+ optics from Fiberstore, I'd like you to run a brief test for me. Do a "show fiber-ports optical-transceiver" and let me know if you get results from any of the Fiberstore optics. The model of switch and firmware version it is running will also be needed.

Fiberstore says "nobody else is having this problem" (which is what they've always told me about anything). Hopefully that is the case. Here, giving that command hangs the switch CLI until it either times out or all of the Fiberstore optics are removed. The switch does keep processing packets as usual during this time, so it is just an annoyance, not an outage.

Edit: This has been fixed - see followup below.

I only have DACs in my 8024F switches, so I don't get hangs:

Code:
PC8024F#show fiber-ports optical-transceiver

Not that helpful, I know, but still.

Hi!

I am using Dell 55xx with Firmware 4.1.0.16. and N4000 with firmware 6.3.2.7 with FS.com SFP+-modules.

On both systems, I never had a hang on fiber-diagnostics, but as I do not have a documentation on "which module in which slot", I cannot say, if they report the diagnostics, but I can confirm this on monday!

I just checked my FS.com-QSFP-modules:
They do not provide diagnostic-values, in Dell N4000-switches, but NO HANGS.

Fiberstore had me return the optics and sent me another set directly from China. The new ones correctly report the optical info:
Code:
switch2#show fiber-ports optical-transceiver
