Bonus Custom Fabricated SFF Server (The Beauty)

This server was built in collaboration with Josh Sniffen from NFC Systems. Arguably the most talented custom sff server builder today. I have worked with Josh over the years to build some incredible and functional works of art.

Carbon fiber, mahogany and aluminum one-off statement piece. This was custom designed and built over a 2-year period. The design goal was to create the most powerful server in the most compact case. The designer/builder, Josh Sniffen, also managed to water cool the server within the compact dimensions.

Another design theme for this build was to incorporate the colors of the McLaren sports cars, Papaya Orange. All of the custom sleeving was done in this color. The anodized aluminum components were also done in this color.

The goal was to build something that was Powerful, Silent and Beautiful.

He documented some of the build process in the following video:

Hori kurappu.
This is more like a toy for that kind special class of people who drive luxury cars that can go 1000000 km/h but end up only following the traffic rules specifying max speed 120 or so.
I would humbly assume many if not most people here will have trouble loading that machine up efficiently.
On my luxury cars note though, luxury cars generally age well, while this system will be deprecated in a matter of a few years. It is absolutely amazing right now though.

generally agree. But you gotta have dreams sometimes don't you! btw, the beast server is a bit more than the $25K asking price directly from dell and because of the supply chain issues, you can't get one even if you had the money of the "special class of people who drive luxury cars..." The other "bonus" server is more for those who appreciate hand made items which is getting harder to find. Even on the "Bay", the closest server is priced around $50K and only has the 7h12s (which is still "aging well" ) but also a generation behind the beast's cpus. I also agree that most folks on this forum are looking for used es versions of older cpus (as I occasionally still do) but there are some on here who's day job spends a lot more on similar servers (I am looking at you Patrick!) Thanks for looking and appreciate the comments as well :)

Don't talk of supply issues please
So sad
Don't get me wrong, 25 isn't a bad offer for this class of server, but you may want to post this on other forums and maybe later on on bay.

sorry about the supply chain issues comment:eek: That is impacting a lot of us in not so fun ways. Will go up on the bay soon but for a lot more than the price to my STH homies. btw, another design theme for the custom build (and even the dell in an odd way) is wabi sabi in a sort of Gaijin interpretation;)

Nice stuff... by curiosity (and forum rules), how much?
It is in the title:
FS: US- Beauty and the Beast $25K
Just to ensure that there is no confusion: $25K for both servers. paypal only, US only, free fedex next day shipping. The small custom server also comes with its own shipping case. PM me for any details or offers.
Thanks again for any comments. Samir, you can get $10 off for every like or dislike you post ;) Pretty soon, I may have to pay you for the servers!

LOL! It would still take me a long time to afford those beauties! :p

Ironically, you had me at "Carbon fiber, mahogany and aluminum" and "McLaren" but I can't be tempted if I want to get the Tesla Roadster when it comes out. :D

should be worth the wait for when the roadster does come out! I drove the original tesla roadster and it felt like the world's fastest golf cart! I have also been obsessed with carbon fiber and my server builds. There was always a connection between some of my favorite car designs and the custom server builds. This was one of my first builds from scratch in complete gold weave carbon fiber: (and Samir, no roomba jokes!)

For two pieces it's actually a good offer. Besides, it's an existing machine, not a cloud you can order but cant touch for another year.

I literally almost purchased one of those 7525's 2 months ago, but realized for the price (and my needs), I could get a whole bunch of previous gen servers (6 in fact) for less money then that single server. still an amazing deal.
agreed as well. The issue that I had was that I needed to have pcie gen4 support and even the recent gen (7515 or 6515) dell servers did not support that. Same with HPE. If that is not an issue and you don't need any of the recent cpu gen (like rome or milan) then you can save a lot of money. That is true with most of toys that we buy ;) One thing making this slightly different is the scarcity of these particular cpus. Google, AWS and Azure have locked up most of the supply of the milan chips especially the 7763s due to their "power to weight ratio" (my phrase:)) Most companies other than the hyperscalers can not get their hands on these cpus and the outlook seems to be more of the same.

But with all that being said, I understand that it is more money than most folks need to spend and really doesn't make any sense for someone's home server! but then again, there are some unusual people on this forum, myself included;)

Yeah, this was at my place of employment (my wife would literally kill me if I spent $25k on a server). Yeah, this was just for some vm hosting requirements. I only looked at the 7525 because when i priced it out, it worked out to be cheaper per core then some of the comparable intel boxes from Dell (and I really wanted to take advantage of the improvements that the Milans offer). I was also looking at the 75F3 core. Mostly because of my current vmware license limitations.

I just sold a 7525 with 2 x 7413 24c milan cpus for around 4K. that is a bit more reasonable and was pretty good bang for the buck.
