Currently building a sandybridge E3-1230 based server with two LSI 9240-8i controllers.
I'm trying to virtualize Solaris 11 while passing the 9240 controllers through via VTd. I'm having a hell of a time keeping it stable, mostly at boot time it will crash, dump then reboot.
Drivers don't like to load for the controller either, but that could be a separate issue
Has anyone has success with this sort of setup?

PigLover mentioned similar problems with stability with SE11 in ESXi in this thread. He said that he had to reduce the number of virtual cores to 2 to get stability.

I personally have no working knowledge of this, but remember PigLover's comment about SE11/ESXi stability and wanted to point that out.
