HI!

I'm new to this forum. I currently work as a photographer and shuffler big loads of data over my network. I just moved to a new location where i'm renovating and will also set up a new network.

I got 2 synology servers one 1817+ which i can puta 10gbe network card in and one 1815+ which has 4 1gbe ports.

I will run cat 6e cables in the wall to each desktop.

How do I maxmise the speed on the network? I'm thinking buying a 8 port 10gbe switch and LAG the 4 ports on the 1815+ then have a 10gbe switch to connect everything else to. will this work? anyone have recommendations on hardware?

4 x 1Gb LAG to 10Gb, you will only transfer at 1Gb/s.

You either do all 10Gb or go with 4 x 1Gb LAGs on all devices.

I assume those are for storage/backup only.
You'll also have some client computers that you want to work with? Are those 10G enabled?

If you use the newer box as primary and just do additional backups to the older one then it wont hurt as much that its only 1G capable...

It would help if you describe your use case/intended workflow.
