I'm contemplating building a small Ceph cluster for home now that bluestore looks better. Proxmox based so I can run VMs as well and maybe 3-5 systems.
The whole reason for this is that I believe that in the future I'll want to add capacity by adding a newer machine with bigger disks and sell the old ones.
Due to existing wiring which is stapled in-walls, I'm stuck at 1Gb speeds except in the server closet.
How would Ceph do with 3-5 small systems, 10Gb between them servicing clients on a 1Gb network?
I'm planning to use those little SM cases with 4 HDDs.
