Am I missing something here? this is "PC3-12800E" DDR3 and not "PC4" DDR4.

There is a big difference in DDR3 ECC UDIMM pricing for 4G and larger sticks 8G or 16G sticks.
The 4x4G are down to $50 OBO for 16G. Same seller has 4x8G for $200

I look for and bought Mac Pro Memory last year.
People rip the 4G sticks out of their Macs and replace them with higher density modules.
They dump the 4G on ebay so you can find some deals but the ECC UDIMM are pricey.

But this deal for 4x8G for $68 OBO is MUCH better if you are OK with the slower RAM
32GB KIT 4X 8GB PC3-10600 1333 MHZ ECC
Ignore this part above ... this was for RDIMM as T-Minus stated!
- sorry I was searching for Apple Mac Pro memory which is usually ECC UDIMM

Here is 8G for $54 shipped
Here is 8G for $40 shipped

both single stick but you get 1866 faster ram
So $70 for 2 is not bad and $65 was pretty decent.

I did see a single 16G stick for under $80 just now.

FYI Your link is to RDIMM NOT UDIMM

And $70 for 2 sticks is not bad but it's far from a deal, that's the standard price I've paid the last couple years for DDR3 ECC UDIMM when buying 32GB (4x8GB).

You're doing better than me. I bought 4x4G for $70 last year which is down to $50
... but I needed it then. The 8G looked like much more.

Originally went in at $50...he countered $70 and I countered $65, which was accepted.

YMMV of course. Also, I've noticed that with the "STH effect" sellers become very responsive so it might be a good idea in the future to low-ball just below a posted OBO so sellers don't catch on.

Of course, if the hoard sticks to accepting a posted OBO only then the seller has not much choice :D

I did, he countered with $70 :/

You're missing that this is DDR3 ECC UDIMM not RDIMM, UDIMM is much more pricey.
