I'm looking for better interactive performance in Adobe Lightroom. That is mostly single-threaded, with some other core use, but it does not scale well across cores. I realize that the E5-1650/1660/1680/2667/2698W would be faster than what I have now, but I'm looking for something faster enough to justify the cost in time and money to setup a new system. ~30%-40% faster (which is what those would be at best) didn't seem worth it. The scroll test that Puget Systems runs seems to be the closest to what I am looking for, and the newer consumer Intel CPUs with their high clocks and IPC improvements beat older CPUs with higher core counts, so this Skylake-W line seems to be the perfect balance for someone like me that wants the best Lightroom interactive performance but also values ECC and the occasional multi-core task like Lightroom import and export, video transcoding, PAR2 generation, etc.
